After four years with six member choreographers/performers at the helm as the company’s co-artistic directors, Emmanuel Jouthe assumed the position of sole artistic director in 1999 of Danse Carpe Diem. By doing so, he has chosen to pursue and deepen his own work as a choreographer. His works reflect a colour and a density that stand out on the Montreal dance scene. It is the vitality, the passion that the choreographer exudes, as well as his survival instinct, which makes his dance so unique.

As well as creating, producing, and distributing the works of Emmanuel Jouthe, the company also contributes to the development of the dance public through activities organized around awareness, conferences, discussions and workshops. Danse Carpe Diem has thus adopted the role of educator to better reach its public and to be able to learn from their exchanges.

Since its inception, the company has created and distributed fifteen works by Emmanuel Jouthe. Renowned presenters in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver, Italy and Germany have supported his work.
